The Great White Silence (1924) - Colorized HD

The Great White Silence (Released in 1924 by Herbert Ponting, filmed between 1910–1913). Rendered in 1440p so that Youtube will use a higher bitrate. Video SRC: ~8600kbps 1080p MPEG4.

I used DeOldify to colorize the video and remove the tints. My goal with this video was to remove the title cards and replace them with subtitles, interpolate it to 24 fps and add a new soundtrack. I never got around to it and youtube would have just copyright claimed it anyway. But you can throw something like this on in the background:    • GWS  

Instead of bringing lighter weight film for his photographs, Herbert Ponting carried glass plates because it resulted in a higher quality image.
