this video is about the concept of cache coherency problem. Cache coherence problem occurs in multiprocessor system where every process or has its local cache, it becomes necessary to have consistency among the local caches.
cache write policies are discussed which are used to update cache, like Write through and write back policy.
cache coherence scheme are discussed to resolve the problem using :
Software solutions( compile time based analysis of code to identify unsafe data for caching and mark it)
Hardware based solutions(runtime based, problem is dealt when it actually arises) are further classified : 1. Directory based protocols(using centralized cache contoller and directory) 2. Snoopy protocols(no concept of centralized controller , but every cache controller has to contribute in updation of cache and to inform the same to all processors)
