Cherish for a lifetime is a small passion project shot on a very low budget with a tiny crew. We used natural light as the base and only added a few small LED lights when needed. Everything is shot handheld to keep the style playful, dreamy, and close to the characters, almost like drifting through someone’s memories.

I filmed this on my new/old Sony PMW-F5 with my Canon FD lenses, mainly the 24mm and occasionally the 50mm, together with a 1/8 Black Pro Mist for that soft nostalgic glow.

The color grade is inspired by Kodak 500T 16mm, and this was the first project I graded using Filmbox Pro. I’m genuinely impressed by how quickly you can get beautiful, filmic colors straight out of the plugin. It gave the footage a warm, textured and organic feel that fit the story perfectly.

This was one of the most challenging one-day shoots I’ve done, simply because of the amount of scenes. But it taught me a lot about working fast, staying efficient, and creating something emotional with very minimal tools. A tiny budget, natural light, vintage glass and a nice crew make for a pretty fine end result.
