There are many frictions that cause a person to not take public transit. Maybe it's hard to understand the bus routes or the train schedules are not frequent enough. One thing that should not be a cause to not take public transit is paying for it. Yes, public transit (not just in New York City but in most places in the United States) makes it confusing and difficult to pay fare. Why is that? And what are the solutions?
