Shillong To Cherrapunjee (Sohra) | Best Road Trip In Meghalaya | North East India Tour

This video is not about a destination but about the journey. It's about the road-trip from Shillong to Sohra (popularly known as Cherrapunjee). Sohra is full of waterfalls cascading over deep gorges.
I recommend you start your day a bit early as there are many places to visit.
Places that I covered in this video are -
1. Mawkdok Dympep Valley View: A few km from Shillong, I came across a beautiful bridge known to the locals as the Duwan Singh Syiem Bridge, which is the entrance to the Sohra tourist circuit. From here the landscape abruptly changes into picturesque deep gorges. The Forest Department has constructed a view-point where visitors can stop a while and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty.
2. Garden of Caves: The Garden of Caves is a natural habitat that has been created by seasonal waterfalls that are fed by rains. Surrounded by green bushes and hedges, the place is the abode of caves and waterfalls
.
3. Wah Kaba Falls: On the way, there is a viewpoint, from where I could the beautiful Wahkaba Falls. Although there is not a lot to do here, but the site is beyond breathtaking. You can also take a detour and get close to the falls.
4. Wei Sawdong Falls: The 3 step fall is the most beautiful thing I experienced from nature. This is beautiful beyond expression. However, it tests your physical ability to enjoy the view. I think it’s 200 meters of steep 75-90 degree trek without any proper stairs. The villagers have made the path and stairs using bamboo trees. This fall is on the outskirts of Cherrapunjee, near DainThlen falls (Which is very famous, but overrated). If you are physically fit, then it is a must-visit. Highly recommended.
5. Arwah Caves: Arwah caves are very close to the main city. The trail to the main caves is spectacular. You get to see tons of flora and fauna in this region. There is not a lot of information about the caves, but it is still a beautiful place. There are many such similar sites in Sohra like Mawmluh caves, Mawsami caves, Lawshynna caves, etc. You choose any of these according to your taste and preference.
