This time on Growing Exposed we go back to Cannabis Capital, Humboldt County to take viewers inside Humboldt Kine Farms.

Humboldt Kine Farms was born after their founders, Eric and Adam took a leap of faith by leaving their urban lifestyles in San Diego for life in more humble, Humboldt County. Their motto is “Grown in the heart of Humboldt with a SoCal vibe.”

Well, what goes best with great cannabis? Great food, of course! We start our visit in the kitchen with some breakfast burritos, and a lesson on why Canadian Ceasers are way better than American Bloody Marys. We also discover why Humboldt is known as the Champagne of cannabis, and how the entire community is connected to the cannabis industry in some way. In fact, Humboldt County comprises one-third of the famous Emerald Triangle and more than 20% of the county’s population has a livelihood that involves cannabis cultivation.

Next, we go inside the greenhouse for a tour of the grow and to get hands on with the buds. Eric and Justin talk about the evolution of OG strains, and explain super cropping. We even get some tips on how to keep plants happy in your own garden.

While in Humboldt, we had to stop at local favorite Root 101, a hydroponic shop that is much more than just a place to buy growing supplies. It’s a community staple that has a personal connection to all the farms in the area, and it’s very own waffle shop! We will see what products are used at Humboldt Kine Farms, Green Planet Nutrients, and discover how they can be used to their full advantage.

In Teachings of the Garden Sage, David Robinson explains why green communities are often healthy communities. We get a bit of history about hydroponics stores, and how they’ve been compared to a village market.

Working in the cannabis industry can be hard, but it’s hugely rewarding and also a lot of fun. We close today’s show back on the farm for a BBQ , beers and a backyard waterslide.
