Описание к видео Why Are London Workers the Poorest in the UK?

It seems inconceivable that those working in London can be the poorest in the UK. Folks having friends and relatives in the city expect them to be in affluence. After all, is the city not the UK’s and Europe’s financial capital? Any business in London is sure to be declaring huge amounts on its balance sheet because billions of pounds are exchanging hands and moving from account to account in the city every blessed day. Thus, can it really be true that London workers rank among the poorest in the country? Yes. They are actually employees with the least purchasing power, hence the poorest. This video attempts to answer the question, why are London workers the poorest in the UK?
Economic Indices
To put answer this question aright, we need to look beyond what appears on the paycheck. What determines how rich you are is not necessarily what you receive at the end of the month or on paydays. This is because the amounts you receive, either as a salary or as wages for the service rendered will be spent on the goods and services sold and rendered to you by others.
The total cost of all these is referred to as the cost of living. To determine how rich a person is, we need to reckon with his purchasing power and disposable income. And this is how much an individual is left with when the total cost of living is deducted from his earnings. Let’s now look at the average of this.
But before then… Note that many of those working in London are living in the city while others are living in its conurbations. And those commuting to London from other parts of England must spend more on transport to get to work each day. Therefore, we should be interested in how much a resident of London has to spend on rent, transport, feeding, utility, and other things considered essential for living with what is being spent on these elsewhere in the country.
A Consultant Professional Insight
Let’s look at this matter through the eyes of an employment consultant organization named CV-Library. It’s considered the UK’s favorite job board and the largest in the country. The independent job board usually has hundreds of thousands of live vacancies from all industries in the United Kingdom. Such an organization is surely an authority in the matter of wages and cost of living.
CV-Library conducted a survey involving 18 cities with high job opportunities in the UK and released interesting data. According to Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of the job board, in order to gather this data, the board compared the same basic living costs against average salaries there. It’ll surprise you to find that UK professionals working in London are unfortunately the poorest. If this is shocking to you, you’re probably carried away by the high salaries being earned in the city.
Offering more professional insight, Biggins says that his board's findings make it clear that the North/South divide is still very much intact in the UK when it comes to salaries and living expenses. According to him, this certainly puts companies under intense pressure to offer fair salaries reflecting the true cost of living in their base and the location of their workers. Yes, these are uncertain times when the costs of living are going up at an almost uncontrollable rate in a lot of major cities in the country. This is also increasing the pressure on the companies that are finding it difficult to hire right now.
Findings After Comparison
Another research conducted in conjunction with another organization Zoopla, a leading property portal in the United Kingdom corroborates the position of CV-Library. At this point, you must have had an idea of why London workers are the poorest in the UK.
