10th Amazon Academy "Driving Last Mile Innovation Together"

Amazon hosted the 10th Amazon Academy on Wednesday, August 7th. This year's Amazon Academy focused on exploring last mile delivery innovations.

In keynote speech, we welcomed Hiroyuki Konno, Director of the Logistics Policy Division, Logistics and Road Transport Bureau, MLIT, who spoke on the topic of "Launching Japan’s New Era of Logistics Innovation in 2024," including logistics policies related to last-mile delivery. Additionally, Mariko Futamura, Professor, Department of Global Social Sciences, Division of Economics, Tokyo Woman's Christian University, delivered a lecture on the importance of creating diverse and flexible workplaces to improve driver well-being, as part of building a sustainable delivery environment in Japan.

In the panel discussion, we invited Ryoichi Rio Kakui, Founder of e-LogiT Co., Ltd., Yasuhiro Koike, Operating Officer and General Manager of the Platform Business Department at ENEOS Corporation, Mei Takayama, CEO of Passion Monster Inc., and Makoto Nakamura, General Manager of the Management Planning Department at Mitsui Fudosan Residential Lease Co., Ltd., to represent companies and delivery partners involved in the last mile delivery. This provided an opportunity to explore the future of last-mile delivery in Japan, discussing each company's initiatives, technology-driven programs, what can be done to enhance driver well-being, and the innovations necessary to achieve these goals.
