The United States government donated P10 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies to the Philippines to help Filipino health workers in their battle against Covid-19.

The donation was delivered by the US Army, Marines, and Air Force and their local counterparts in the Philippine military. At least 10 hospitals, including Talon General Hospital in this city, benefited from the PPEs and medical supplies.

In a statement yesterday, the US embassy in Manila said that the joint operation “builds on decades of bilateral military cooperation in counterterrorism, humanitarian relief, maritime security, and many other fields.”

The PPEs include disposable gloves, surgical masks, medical clothing, and infrared thermometers. The new donation brings the US government’s total Covid-19 assistance to the country to more than P780 million.

Other local government hospitals benefitting from the US donation include those from Bataan, Bulacan, Basilan, Isabela, Laguna, Palawan, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Zamboanga del Sur.
