This song was written on a cold November night after learning a friend had passed suddenly. They were young, vibrant, and the world was theirs. It was strange, comforting, and cruel to see the casket with funeral flowers blooming around them, when their life was just beginning to reach its most vibrant stage. Similarly to when flowers get ripped out of the ground. "Funeral Flowers" is dedicated to all those gone too soon, and those left behind to smell the flowers and pick up the petals.
