Don’t Join the BoS
Oh today’s video? You might of heard of them, the BoS? Ring a bell? Nah, the BoS goes out of its way to make their presence known, don’t they. You might like of dislike them already not sure, but did you know there are 7 real, legitimate reasons to skip this faction in fallout 4? Curious huh? Well, stay tuned.
They have no loyalty to their own members
The BoS in fallout 4 goes out of their way to show you that the loyalty they show to their members goes exactly as far as their members usefulness. “Would I Ever Leave this company? Look I’m all about Loyatly.” I mean, they explicitly show you that danse has always been a loyal and exemplary member of the BoS. Yet when they realize he is a synth, they want you to kill him and if you refuse, they show up to kill him. “I feel like part of what I’m being paid for is my loyalty” The only way you can stop them is by threatening to leave or intervene. You are here to play a video game. You are here to escape from reality. Fallout 4 is a game that is trying to allow you to make your own choices, so why would you willingly join a group that will kill you as soon as you step out of line? “If there were a company that valued loyalty more, I would go wherever they value loyalty the highest.”
There is nothing they offer that is unique
So look, each of the factions in Fallout 4 is designed to offer you something unique in exchange for working with them. And honestly each thing is pretty cool. But for the Brotherhood, while it is cool to be carried around in a minigun equipped vertibird, it pales significantly to being able to teleport instantly to and from the institute anywhere in the Wasteland.WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK- ITLL DO .5 PAST LIGHT SPEED If you plan onplaying on survival, which is way more fun, I must say, having teleportation is like playing survival mode on easy mode and vertibird travel is like the way less cool ugly sister of teh family.
Their ending is the least fun.
Now, i know what youre thinking, booting up liberty prime and watching it go around destroying all the enemies is pretty cool. But thats just it: you just watch. If you think this ending is cool, there might be a cuck chair in your bedroom because you like watching more than participating. If I were to play the 10 minutes of uninterrupted footage of me following liberty prime, then you and I would have had th same experience because we both just sat back and watched a robt beat the last bad guy for us. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO I TOLD YOU WE ARE GOING TO WATCH A MOVIE Besides that, there is no difference in a minuteman or railroad ending except with them, you have friends come in with you. With the BoS, its just Maxson, and hes about as fun as a kick in the dick.
The BoS is a bunch of virgins
Every time you enter the Prydwen, you have a chance of hearing an announcement. It seems like every time I got on, the announcement was “dont have sex with locals.” (7:55 of Bos after BoBH) I don’t want to be a dick to the armed services or anything, but I’ve known quite a few marines and Navy members in my time, and one thing they all say is how cool it was to go from a relative nobody to someone who could wander the entire globe and have sex for the locals. Again, i could be missing something here, but if you take that off the table, plus the fact that the BoS serves a creed, and not a nation and what do you really have left? Only relatively few members get to be in power armor so its not that. Nate would know this better than anyone, having seved int eh military himself, and I think he would be one of the first to point out how lame this is of teh BoS.
Maxson is completely dogmatic in his beliefs.
Look this can either be a pro or a con depending on what you think synths are. But please, i am begging you: think logically here. Most of the people in the commonwealth hate and fear teh institute because the institute is messing with them. Maxson sent 2 scouting teams into the commonwealth TO LOOK FOR TECNOLOGY. SO IS IT ANY WONDER THEN THAT PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF TECHNOLOGY But that’s not why he’s here, is it? He tells you why hes here the first time you meet him. He thinks the Institute is going to take over the world. There is no gray for Maxson. You cannot release the synths. You cannot use the synths as robots. You cannot collect the technology in the institute. You can only destroy everything in the Commonwealth. This is consistent with maxson’s character. Maxson does not care about the happiness of people, and he does not hare about keeping those people safe from the dangers that already exist. YOU ATE MY ONLY FOOD, NOW IM GONNA STARVE / I MISSED THE PART WHERE THATS MY PROBLEM. All he cares about is ensuring another Maripoa does not occur. I don’t know if that is good or bad. I am simply pointing out they offer you little to know role playing ability.
