Thank you GOD!! I hunted hard this spring turkey season and the good LORD blessed me with a nice bearded bird on the second to the last day of my season. I started out hunting out of my tree stand because I wanted to try to thwack a swamp chicken in the spring from a tree. The problem was that without any leaves in the trees it made it very challenging and difficult. I gave it everything I had and got busted by a few bearded birds because of my movement and never connected with one. On the second to the last day, I set up my ground blind and settled in for the evening hunt. I was watching a few hens and a tom when a smokey gray hen came running in. I have never seen a smokey gray turkey in the wild so it was absolutely incredible to watch. I tried to get it on my phone video to post it but instead all I did was scare her away. I had been watching a tom before the smokey gray hen came in and while I was filming her, I lost the tom. I was very happy, bless and surprised to find out he came down and had gotten within bow range for me. I took the 35 yard shot and knew when the arrow thwacked him that I had finally gotten my Michigan spring turkey. Only to find out that my camera was not only pointing in the wrong direction but wasn’t even on. I had one of the best day’s turkey hunting I have had in a long time by myself with GOD. I had to share this video with everyone because it was my first and only smokey gray turkey I have seen in the wild.

Keep on Keeping on! Second to the last day of the season and I thwacked my bearded bird! And saw my first and only smokey gray hen. Haters are going to hate but I know what bird I am going after this fall!
