Net zero is an ambitious target that cannot be achieved under our current economic model. To build a truly sustainable world, we need to fundamentally redesign the economy to replace our linear approach of “take, make, waste,” and create a circular economy promoting sustainability by design. This would reduce carbon, cut pollution and help protect biodiversity – but can a circular economy advance broader systemic change?

While The Biden Administration links economic opportunities and circular strategies to sustainability ambitions, other major governments are preparing for the COP26 negotiations. How can the private and public sectors act in concert to realize a circular economy within the next decade? Should businesses seek to drive changes in consumer tastes that favor circularity – and if yes, how?

Join Andrew Ross Sorkin, who will be moderating the session, in conversation with Dame Ellen MacArthur, along with experts, decision-makers and cultural icons to draw out circular solutions for resilient communities and economies.
