Elegant Lao wedding ceremony at home with parade and Lao dance

Описание к видео Elegant Lao wedding ceremony at home with parade and Lao dance

Hi and thank you for watching my video!

As an American born Lao, it was important for me to incorporate a Lao Baci Ceremony (Su Kwan) into our marriage celebration. We decided last minute to capture the day on video (a lot of which is not on here) and so glad we did. Including this ceremony alongside our American celebration added a layer of richness to the celebrations. We hope that our video inspires others to do the same so that the Lao traditions are passed down to future generations.

I am wearing a Lao sinh, a traditional skirt made from silk, carefully hand-woven with intricate patterns. It is a symbol of feminity and the artistry of Lao craftsmanship. Mine was made and shipped directly from Laos.

Enjoy the video and we hope you gain a deeper understand of the Lao traditions. One can see that the Baci ceremony is a unifying experience. It brings together family, friends and the community, creating a sense of togetherness. The tying of strings around our wrists symbolizes the binding of our spirits and the strengthening of our connections. It reminds us of the importance of supporting one another, fostering unity and celebrating our shared journey.
