A Man Like Us

Genesis 28
Most people can relate to Jacob in the Bible. It took God 20-30 years to accomplish in Jacob a person who finally learned what God was teaching him. God is never in a hurry! Jacob's name means supplanter, deceiver and defrauder. He stole the birthright from his brother Esau and tricked his father into giving him the blessing that was meant for his brother Esau. Finally, he met a person who was more of a devious person than he was. He met his father-in-law who tricked Jacob into marrying his oldest daughter instead of the woman, Rachel whom he loved. This message gives the whole story of the life of Jacob and how finally he comes in humility to God and God changes his name to Israel which means "let God prevail".
