Quick Fix:
First off, check that everything is set up on your Garmin Connect™ app. Check this under NOTIFICATIONS & ALERTS then SMART NOTIFICATIONS.

This may still not work, so you can go to SETTINGS on your iPhone. On the settings page, tap on BLUETOOTH and confirm that your Forerunner 255 is connected. Tap on the 'i' icon next to your Forerunner 255 and make sure the button for 'Share System Notifications' is toggled on.
