Pagottan Sugar Mill Railways

Описание к видео Pagottan Sugar Mill Railways

Pagottan (also known as Pagotan) was one of two sugar mills on the former Madiun to Ponorogo railway line. It had a long field line towards Ponorogo with an out-station at Mlilir. We see empties heading to Mlilir and then take a ride on the tender of No. 3 out to the fields where the cane lori are being prepared. This is followed by some shots of the steep climb from the weigh bridge to the mill which required 3 beefy 0-10-0T+T locos Nos. 6, 7 & 8 to slowly move the loads over the weigh bridge and up to the mill. The initial footage was in 1991. The two subsequent clips in 2005 and 2008 where after the field lines had closed. We see the locos in different livery doing yard work. In the 2008 shot, No. 6 has acquired the boiler off a smaller loco and bull bars for pushing cane. A few years later 6, 7 & 8 were converted to fireless locos with new boilers. Footage of that will appear on a future YouTube video. The 0-10-0T+Ts appear to be 2-6-2T+T but the front and back axles are driven by gears on these Luttermöller locos from Orenstein & Koppel of Berlin.
