(12 Sep 2012) Dozens of Egyptians protested outside the US embassy in Cairo on Wednesday against a film, made in the United States, that ridicules Islam's Prophet Muhammad
Protesters burned the US flag in the latest rally against the controversial film.
"We do not want their aid if they are going to insult the Prophet Muhammed," one protester, Mohamed Hassan, said, referring to the large amount of bilateral aid Egypt receives from Washington.
One banner depicted US president Barack Obama as a puppet of Israel.
Others though registered their disgust at the protest and the reaction to the film.
"The people here (protesters) do not have a certain goal, a lot of them have not even watched the movie," Nourhane Nassar, an onlooker at the protest said.
"This way of protesting and especially after the violence that took place in Libya we are humiliating Islam more than the movie," she added.
On Tuesday a group protesting against the movie attacked the US Embassy in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi killing the US ambassador and three of his staff.
The Israeli film-maker Sam Bacile, who lives in California, has gone into hiding.
Video excerpts of the film posted on YouTube depict the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud, a womaniser and a madman in an overtly ridiculing way.
Obama has ordered an increase in security at US facilities overseas in the wake of the protests.
