Digestive process includes digestive gland and physiology of digestion. The main digestive gland is mid gut diverticulum. It arises as a blind pouch from oesophagus and mid gut and extends forward into atrial cavity on the right side of pharynx. upto one third of its length. It is surrounded by a narrow ceolomic cavity. Its zymogel cell secretes a number of digestive enzymes.

Branchiostoma is a microphageys animal feeding on diatoms, desmids, protozoans and other pelagic microscopic organisms.
Branchiostoma is a ciliary or filter feeders.
