What to do in Winter Hokkaido Part 2 | Ice Festival at Lake Shikotsu & Hill of the Buddha

We rented a car and drove to Hill of the Buddha and Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival! A day trip from Sapporo in the winter time (February) is definitely more magical than we expected and we can't recommend it enough. It was our first time driving in snowy landscapes and it wasn't as scary as what people say. We took our time to drive, allowed ourselves plenty of time as buffer, stopped whenever we felt like we needed (or when we spotted random beautiful sights) and just enjoyed the ride! Hopefully this video shows you how magnificent Japanese winter is!
