August 19, 2025 - After over a month of active burning, the white sage fire has finally been completely suppressed. The lighting-caused fire began on July 11, just as the Dragon Bravo fire was beginning to get out of control. The white sage fire spread rapidly, leading to evacuations in the greater Jacob area. Fire officials were able to protect the area, and there were no structures reported lost. The fire consumed nearly 60 thousand acres of land before fire officials were able to fully contain it. The fire is currently inactive, and while there are still crews completing recovery work, the surrounding areas are beginning to reopen.

The Kaibab National Forest will have several areas reopening to the public and entering stage 2 fire restrictions in the wake of the now completed suppression of the White Sage Fire beginning today. The White Sage Fire has been completely suppressed, and the Dragon Bravo Fire has reached a significant containment level and has had less erratic fire behavior as of late, so the forest service will be reopening western portions of the district. The Forest Service warns that hazards may still be present in reopened areas, including dead standing trees and potential flooding.
