The EPA just dropped a major quarterly update on the Tijuana River sewage crisis, reporting "fast progress" from both the US and Mexico. But San Diego County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre says our community needs more than just progress—we need a permanent solution.

Here’s the breakdown of the latest update:

🇺🇸 US Update: The South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion is ahead of schedule, adding 10 million gallons per day of capacity. Plans are underway to reach 50 million gallons per day.

🇲🇽 Mexico Update: Construction has started on new river gates and collection pipes. Mexico has also committed the remaining $93 million needed for key projects in their 2026-2027 budgets.

The Treaty: Both nations are working to sign a new treaty by the end of 2025.

While this is great news , until we have a 100% diversion of river flow, we won't have clean air or open beaches. The fight for a 100% fix continues.
