The Slow Food Community of Negros - Terra Madre 2020 and the Department of Tourism presents the Negros Ark of Taste Short Film series! Watch the premier with the first 2 of the series next month on December 10, 2020 (Terra Madre day). Episodes 3, 4, 5 and 6 will air on December 12, 14, 16 and 18 respectively.

The Ark of Taste is a growing international catalogue of endangered heritage foods, a project initiated by the global Slow Food movement. It highlights the distinct characteristics of small-scale quality ingredients that are a part of different cultures, traditions and history all around the world. Its primary aim is to start a conversation about at-risk ingredients that are sustainably produced, unique in taste, and part of a distinct ecoregion.
Ingredients catalogued on the Ark of Taste need to be rediscovered and put back on the dinner table. The people behind the production and preservation of these ingredients deserve a chance for their stories to be heard. The consumption of endangered wild species must go down, if not entirely stopped, for mankind to preserve and sustain biodiversity in the human food chain.

We hope to increase awareness among Filipinos and the world about the different kinds of food that are slowly disappearing from our culinary tradition and our memories. We also want to introduce to chefs and culinary icons the indigenous food our island has to offer.

We will be showing a series of a short documentaries about the Ark of Taste in Negros:
1. Batwan and Kadios by the Sibatu Indigenous Peoples, Sitio Sibato, Guimbalaon, Silay City on Dec 10, 2020.
2. Criollo Cacao in Atipuluan, Bago City on Dec 12, 2020.
3. Darag Chicken from Twenty Six Herb Garden in Bacolod City on December 14, 2020.
4. Tinigib Corn from Purok Mainit, Camingawan in Kabankalan City on December 16, 2020.
6. Adlai from Araal, La Carlota City on December 18, 2020.

We hope that people all over the world, especially our fellow Filipinos, will realize the importance of protecting and patronizing these ingredients in promoting good, clean and fair food
