On June 9, 2015 the Korea Queer Culture Festival put on the opening ceremony for their event which continues through June 28 when they meet here for a "Pride Parade." The LGBT community here meets regular opposition from conservative Christians. Many of these religious conservatives say homosexuality is "satanic." They also accuse gay and lesbian South Koreans of spreading diseases such as AIDS, and more recently even MERS.

This video was shot on my Samsung Note4 about at around 5pm, some 3 hours before official start of the opening ceremony, and you will see many of the encamped conservative Christians (some were protesting here for weeks in anticipation of this event). Their numbers have swelled to about 200, but the Seoul Metropolitan Police appear to have them under control.

The Christians in the video also balme Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon of encouraging gay and lesbian citizens to agitate for passage in the National Assembly of an "anti-discrimination act." That proposed bill has failed to pass the National Assembly 3 times, 2007, 2010 and last year in 2014.
