Stellar X2 review (An unpopular opinion) (7 audio interfaces and no $3000 hardware)

Описание к видео Stellar X2 review (An unpopular opinion) (7 audio interfaces and no $3000 hardware)

This is a review of the recently touted Neumann U87 clone. I'm not using expensive preamps ($2000++) nor am I using AUD plugins (ie. Manley VOXBOX, Avalaon VT-737 which color the sound of the Stellar X2). This video contains raw audio from 7 different audio interfaces including the Babyface Pro, Scarlett 2i2, Audient ID4, Zoom H4n Pro, Solidstate Logic SSL2, Zoom F6, Rode AI-1.

From my tests the Stellar X2 can't handle standard mic distance. https://i.imgur.com/za5QJXx.png If you speak one hang-loose away from the mic, or 8 inches away or the Welker hand - basically - you don't eat the mic and you give it a bit of space, a TLM 103 and a U87 will pick up your voice just fine at that distance. A Stellar X2 will not. That's the distinction. Basically your audio is unusable or very unflattering with the hang-loose. Try it out and you'll see for yourself. The TLM 103/U87 sounds much more full and it will pick up your voice clearly even at 8 inches away whereas an X2 will not.

Here you see how the audio from the CAD E100s compares to the TLM 103 (from Boothjunkie) (and my own TLM 103)
