Chuck E. Cheese (Union NJ), 4K arcade walkthrough & tour, May 2024

One of the newest Chuck E. Cheese locations in the northeast US, this spot in Union, NJ opened in June of 2023 in the Target shopping center on Route 22 Eastbound. Coincidentally, it's actually the town's SECOND Chuck E. Cheese; the first one was also on Route 22 but near the entrance to the Garden State Parkway. That one originally opened up in 1984 and closed down in 2019; it's now the site of a Wawa gas station and convenience store. So how about this new location? What's it got in store? There's a lot of modern games in here, but since this is New Jersey we're talking about, of course the ticket payouts are abysmal with most games operating with a fixed amount. For example, Pop The Lock pays out 7 tickets every time, and Quik Drop gives you 8 tickets. So obviously, this isn't the place to be if you're hunting for prize redemption. As far as bringing the kids and having them go wild for an hour or so? Sure, why not? After all, Chuck E. Cheese is STILL where a kid can be a kid. One thing to note is that even though this has only been open for a year, they've already reduced the number of games here; during this walkthrough you'll notice a big empty space on the floor. This is presumably where they're building the new Trampoline Zone section that seems to have rolled out to all the CECs nationwide. Although signage was up at the front counter advertising it already, it wasn't quite ready for prime time during this visit.
