Last April 2015 the Colegio de Arquitectos de Puebla (Puebla Institute of Architecs) in the city of Puebla, Mexico with 14 participating architectural offices designed and painted 25 pedestrian crossings on an avenue that has a lot of restaurants and commercial activity. This is the largest simultaneous intervention of this kind in the world.

This was done to emphasize the importance of pedestrian crossings as tools for protecting the lives of pedestrians and for making motor vehicle drivers and pedestrians alike to be aware that they have to be respected.

Along with that objetive it is important to mention that a previous study was made by the city authorities and the licenses and permits to do this intervention on public space were granted which makes it a first in our country.

This event was done on a weekend and we had at one time more that 200 people painting simultanously. This opens the doors to similar interventions and more important to the use of this crossings to leave a message to educate, for artistic interventions, etc.

Every office submitted its design and did all the painting with their architects, friends, children, boyfriends, girlfriends and volunteers and some of the painters even brought their dogs. Look for it on twitter #cebraton @capac_puebla @arquigon
