The 4th of July has always been special to me not only for its historical significance but it stirs memories of growing up in a small town in the midwest.

This was the day that my brothers and sister would decorate our bikes with red, white and blue streamers, and balloons. We would wedge a baseball card with a clothes pin near the spokes to make our bikes sound like motorcycles. This was the day when I was 14 years old that my first rock band played live on a float in the home town parade. Thank you Carl and Wanda Bernardi. They were the Deerfield Music Center and sponsored us.

The whole town smelled like a giant coffee cake had landed on it thanks to the nearby Sara Lee factory. You can be sure everyone was having some on the 4th of July.

Here's to growing up in the heartland where fireworks were always spectacular and flags waving in the summer wind reminded us all of family past and present.

Technical Information.
The fireworks were shot with a Sony HDR-CX500v on July 3rd, 2010 in Marina Bay, Richmond, Ca. The flag was shot with a Nikon Coolpix S9100 in slow motion (8x) mode. The flag is the harbor master's flag in Marina Bay Harbor recorded in June 2011. Editing was done with Sony Vegas Pro 10. Added sounds were recorded with the HDR-CX500v.
