$400 Crate and Barrel Dupe Lamp for $70

👉Here’s what you’ll need :

Two 8 ft x 6in white wood boards
Small piece of 1/2” thick PVC
DIY lamp kit with an 8” flute and 12” all thread tube.
12” drum shade

This is a scrap free buld that uses every but if the wood purchased for this project.

Cut 4 3/4” off one end of each 8’ board. Then cut 3/4” off the 5 1/2” length of those pieces to make two 4 3/4” squares and two 4 3/4”x3/4” pieces.

Next cut the two longer boards exactly in half, which should yeild four 45 3/4” boards.

Next assemble the long boards around one of the 4 3/4” squares which will be inset about an inch from the end of the long boards as seen in the video. This wil be tne base of the lamp and will need a hole drilled to let the power cord through.

Attach 3 of the long boards around the square with wood glue and nails, then, at the other end the take the two 3/4”x 3/4” pieces, glue and nail 3/4” from the end on the inside of the boards. This will be the top of the lamp.

Attach the fourth board to complete the pillar.

Fill nail holes and any gaps with wood filler and sand smooth.

Cut a piece of 1/2” pvc pipe 4” in length and spray paint gold.

Drill a hole through the center of the second square and test for to make sure it fits flush with the top of the pillar.

Paint or stain to your liking.


Finally assemble the top part of the lamp to the 4 3/4” square with the lamp kit as shown in tne video.

Feed cord through the inside of the collum and out the bottom of the base.

Use a few stick on felt pads to the bottom of the lamp to give the cord room pass under the lamp.
