Practicing slide turns on the 2006 BMW R1200GS Adventure. I want to learn elephant turns or 180 degree spin-turns, but I still suck at it. The first step is to just get the rear wheel of the GS to slide past 90 degrees with the rear break only.

In this video I manage at least 45 degrees. I will keep practicing! The idea is to lock up the rear wheel in a straight line (not too fast) and then quickly turn the handlebars to one side, initiating the turn. Keep the brake on!! Otherwise, like me, you risk highsiding the bike.
