I had a lot of trouble with this Accuphase transport, mainly because the company supports its dealers and not the product. Dealers in turn do not share the info so that their agency is not terminated. Or at least this is what the case seems to be. Anyway, I did replaced an IC or two and serviced the mechanism and now it appears to work well on all CD and most CD-Rs. I could crank up the laser power and make it read all CD-Rs but I am reluctant to do it, because its new owner might not have any CD-Rs. In that case why shorten the life of a laser from - say - 20+ years it still has in it to - say - 15, if the person using it might not require such capability? The replacement laser heads are still available for about $1000. Worth getting a spare if you can afford it. This is the best transport I have ever laid my hand on and the mechanism - the KSS-190A - is the best mech ever made.
