Argentina election: Who is the far-right candidate Javier Milei?

Voters in Argentina are heading to the polls today in a general election. It's taking place amid a challenging situation for the country with inflation running at 140 per cent and spiralling poverty.

All eyes are on Javier Milei, a Donald Trump-admiring libertarian who's hoping to attract disillusioned supporters away from Argentina’s main parties with promises to dollarise the economy and slash public spending. He says his controversial policies are the shock therapy the country needs. But his opponents say he's a far-right populist with dangerous ideas.
