I learned how to paint like an artist DESPITE not having any skills or "natural abilities" to do so. And specifically, I'm learning how to paint in ONE WEEK. I have a goal of painting an abstract landscape painting using acrylics. I want to paint mountains and a valley and it needs to be cozy colours to match my bedroom decor. Learning how to paint was something I didn't think I'd ever be good at or even be capable of learning. But I was wrong. Sometimes we are told by others that we aren't very good and that can make us believe things from a young age. Maybe it was a teacher (in my instance my art teacher compared me to my older sister) who had a lasting impact. Or a parent. Or just lack of encouragement from a young age. But I've learned through this whole DIY journey that most things can be learned. Painting may come naturally to some, but for the rest of us, we can learn and acquire the skill and even get decently good. Happy painting!
