If you don't know where the gaps are, the first step would be to identify where they are. This can be done by using a piece of tissue paper or a smoke pen. Simply hold it up to the bottom of the skirting board or baseboard, and if the paper moves or the smoke gets sucked in, you have a gap.

I knew where these gaps were in this bedroom.

Once you've identified where the gaps are, the next step is to fill them and I used the 12mm foam noodle that came 10m long.

There are a few different materials you can use for this if the gap isn't big including silicone caulk, foam sealant, or even a wood filler.

It's important to choose a material that's appropriate for your specific situation and that will provide a good seal.

To fill the gap using something like decorators caulk, which is water based, simply apply the material of your choice to the area using a caulk gun or putty knife. Be sure to work carefully and slowly, as it can be easy to apply too much or too little material. You may also need to use a backer rod or foam strip to fill larger gaps before applying the sealant.

Once the gap is filled, use a damp cloth or sponge to smooth out the sealant and remove any excess. Be sure to let the sealant dry completely before painting or finishing the area.

And that's it!

By following these simple steps, you can fix gaps between skirting board or baseboard and the floor and stop draughts from entering your home. It's a quick and easy DIY solution that can save you money on heating bills and improve the comfort of your home.

Thanks again for watching, and I'll see you in the next video, or watch some of my other ones!!
