Steven Welp - Muscle Of Love

Описание к видео Steven Welp - Muscle Of Love

This song is from Steven Welp's second CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) album "Pearl Floating Infinite Skies", first released December 18, 2011. Many Christians believe it is not their place to enter the social and/or political arena with the Gospel message. No, Jesus is not a political football. But this rationale neglects Jesus Christ prime directive: Feed the hungry, care for the sick, clothe the naked, heal the broken-hearted, etc. When challenged, good church-going Christians may say "I pay my tithe and our church meets these requirements on my behalf with it". This conveniently lets those Christians "off the hook" to hide out in their church on Sunday, hide out at their job during the week, and hide out at home with their remaining time, never to personally encounter the "unwashed" and "needy" who most need their help. This lifestyle is a perversion of the Gospel message "be in the world but not of it". Thus their personal lives are shallow and empty of true empathy and compassion because they have never allowed the Holy Spirit into the core of their being to change their world view, see the world the way Jesus saw it and how God wants us to see it and be active in His world as change-agents. This "tithe" mentality is a very sanitized version of what Jesus demanded we do. Jesus didn't ask for 10%, He demanded 100% of your life. How does a once-a-week monetary gift in a wicker basket excuse you from "love your neighbor as yourself" and "am I my brother's keeper"? We are supposed to "get our hands dirty", be "in the thick of it", "on the streets", "contending for human rights and justice" exactly as Jesus. So this song simply reiterates what Jesus told us to do. Anything less is, as James said in 2:16: "If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about it, what good is it?" Social activism, human rights activism and eco-stewardship activism is mandatory, not optional in God's kingdom and His church. In other words, make yourself available to be used by God anywhere, anytime, 24/7 for those who ask you for help. It's called L-O-V-E. All words and music copyright © 2011 by Steven Welp.
