The Supreme Court has said they will not hear the AB5 case and that means a decision by the 9th Circuit Court stands. This became law in 2019 but has been on hold pending a decision. Now, the hold can be lifted. It will be lifted soon, maybe as early as today. There are three prongs to the AB5 case and I go over them here. If you drive a truck for someone else you certainly don't meet the criteria. Leasing a truck is still a long shot in California. What I have heard recommended is getting your own authority and then a company can do business with you because you are a different company. It will be very hard for individuals to be considered independent contractors, as it should be. Note: I am not a lawyer and this video should not be considered legal advice.
