This is a preview that samples selections from “Animation for All Ages,” one of 7 featured program categories from the inaugural Supernova Digital Animation Festival, which debuted in Denver, Colorado in September 2016. Six of the seven featured programs were presented with sound to the public on the 14th and Champa LED on the corner of the Denver Convention Center, with the focal competition presented on a temporary LED screen positioned in the Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria with seating for the public. This single evening event became a template that would grow and evolve over the following six years into one of the most distinguished public art events in the world, all in support of the growing, dynamic niche of digital motion art, animation and new media, the only festival in the world to host content in such a manner, with auxiliary activations taking other forms through community partnerships. The Animation for All Ages category was inspired by a previous limited duration event from the Friday Flash series that preceded Supernova called Kid Wonder, a program offering excellent entry points into digital animation as a popular medium for youth and adults alike. The selections for the program were both curated through advanced research or selected from the festival's annual submission portal through Film Freeway. This and all program preview were composed and edited by Ivar Zeile, founder and creative director for the project for seven years.
