The Dangote Cement Factory in Obajana, Kogi State, Nigeria, is Africa's largest cement production plant, with a capacity of 16.25 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) across five production lines.

It is the flagship plant of Dangote Cement Plc, a leading cement producer in Africa. The plant was commissioned in 2008 with two lines totaling 5Mtpa, making it the largest cement factory in Sub-Saharan Africa at the time. Since then, its capacity has been expanded several times, reaching its current capacity in 2020.

The Obajana plant produces Portland Cement, a type of cement commonly used in construction. It has limestone reserves of 647 million tonnes, which are expected to last for about 45 years. The plant is supported by a fleet of 2,370 trucks that transport cement to customers across Nigeria and other West African countries.

The ownership of the Obajana plant has been the subject of a dispute between Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and the Kogi State Government. In July 2022, the Kogi State Government shut down the plant, claiming that DIL did not have the legal right to operate it. However, the plant reopened in October 2022 following a court order. The dispute is still ongoing, but the plant is currently operating at full capacity.

Nevertheless, the Dangote Cement Factory at Obajana is a major economic driver for Kogi State and Nigeria. It provides direct employment for thousands of people and indirect employment for many more. The plant also contributes significantly to government revenue through taxes and royalties.
