The Quint| Badlapur: Commuters Protest Against Everyday Delay of Mumbai Local

As Mumbai local trains get delayed, angry commuters in suburban Badlapur staged an impromptu protest on the railway tracks, disrupting the entire Central line till Mumbai CST.
It started with a technical snag near Bhivpuri station at around 5 am.

Protesters stopped the train and took control of the cabin after a Mumbai CST local that was supposed to reach at 5:05 am reached Badlapur at 5:30 am.
The motorman of the train fled the scene. The commuters, who have been protesting for the last 3 hours, have moved to the tracks, disrupting train’s movement.
Commuters complain that trains are getting delayed everyday and nobody is taking the issue seriously.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) to immediately go to Badlapur.

Lakhs of office-goers are affected as Karjat-Mumbai CST trains have been completely stopped due to the protest. Kalyan-CST trains have also been delayed.
Express trains going to Pune, Bengaluru and South India have been diverted through the Panvel route, disturbing the Harbour line local timetable
