Full Poem:

I remember the star-lit night sky of my youth
I remember the wonder, the hope in that gaze
I remember the prayers, the wishes, the longing.

But I remember how so many of those dreams went unanswered
I remember the nights I thought the stars had forsaken me
I remember the nights I felt as though nothing believed in me as hard as I believed in it.
And yet I’ll always remember to wish again and again upon the star-lit night sky of my youth.

Because I won’t forget to convince myself, to believe in the god-like power of the cosmos
because I won’t forget the joy, the bliss of the nights when the stars talked, when they reached out
because I won’t forget the moments when I was cradled by big dipper, when my prayers were made true by the great North Star
because I won’t forget the moments I cried out to the depths of all creation and it answered back.

Oh what it means to be loved, to be cherished by the star-lit night sky of my youth.
Is love on this terrestrial plane any different?

Meaning:
To love someone or to believe in anything requires you to trust that one thing entirely. That act of devotion can lead you blind, vulnerable, and completely in the dark. But maybe, just maybe it's worth it in the end. Is it better to be alone or to be connected? You decide.
