STORYLINE:

Liberian war veterans gathered outside the presidential mansion to discuss their long over due issues with the Liberian President, Charles Taylor on Thursday.

Queues of young and middle-aged war veterans with amputated legs and arms, waited impatiently for the presidential convoy to stop on its way to the mansion and were very disappointed as it passed by in high speed.

Francis Duo, a war veteran himself said: "We need food, water, medical care and regular payment".

US President George W Bush, who has repeatedly called for Taylor to step down, will visit Africa next week, but he will not go to Liberia.

Even though he has publicly talked about the suffering and the unrest in the West African nation, he has yet not committed any troops to the region.
