The first set we have is a Focus Sash Sand Rush set. This set is best used when next to a Tyranitar or another Pokemon that can Set Sandstorm. The Sand Rush makes it so that you can invest some extra attack damage with your nature and go adamant. By being so fast, you are able to pressure your opponent by getting off massive damage before they are able to touch you. As we mentioned previously, Excadrill has very low defenses so it is crucial that you are able to shoot to kill before you opponent gets the opportunity to. For this reason we run Focus Sash to ensure that you are able to get at least two strong attacks off before falling. Or at the very minimum force your opponent to double target your Excadrill that turn. If you find yourself in a situation where you don't have room for a Sand Setter on your team, the option to Dynamax and use Max Rockfall is always present to self set the Sand. The issue being you won't be able to get the Speed Boost until the following turn.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Rush
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
Rock Slide
Iron Head
Protect
High Horsepower

The next set is a little more offensive with Mold Breaker and Life Orb. I like to refer to this set as the “Rotom Killer Set” because Mold Breaker gives Excadrill the ability to ignore Rotom’s Levitate and use a Ground type move, either Earthquake or High Horsepower, to deal massive damage to rotom. The Mold Breaker ability also allows you to Ignore Mimikyu’s Disguise Ability and Attack it with a STAB Super Effective Iron Head. The EVs here remain the same throughout all the sets, Max attack and Max Speed is typically the only thing that you want to run on Excadrill. This life orb set also excels very well as a Dynamax Pokemon. Since you’re sacrificing a lot of speed here to run the Mold Breaker ability, you want to make yourself as tanky as possible with Dynamax. The Life orb makes it so that you’re doing an incredible amount of damage when pair with the Max Move Base power.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Rock Slide
Iron Head
Protect
High Horsepower

This last set is very situational and is probably the least viable out of the three in my opinion. But it can still be used well. If you find yourself in a situation where your Focus sash or Life orb item slots are already taken by another Pokemon, then an Assault Vest is a good alternative. This Set works best when the Excadrill is Dynamaxed because you become even tanker and can then raise your attack with Max Knuckle. We decide to run Brick Break here because then we have the option to break Aurora Veils and Dual Screens. EVs remain the same but we go back to Adamant nature. Since we are given more Special Defense with this set we are opting for more damage rather than more speed, especially since we plan to Dynamax anyway to further boost our offenses. What also makes this set good is that you can further boost your Defense and Special Defense while Dynamaxed as well with Max Steelspike or Max Quake.

Excadrill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Mold Breaker
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
Rock Slide
Iron Head
Brick Break
High Horsepower

And there you have it, my best sets for Excadrill in VGC20. If you guys enjoyed what you saw here today then make sure to leave a like and Subscribe to the channel to help us with our Road to 1000 subscribers!
