The video starts with a scenic drive through Passau, crossing the 3 rivers Ilz, Danube and Inn to the Austrian shore of the Danube . Driving along the Danube through lush vegetation till Kasten and then finally back on a short mountainroad to Vichtenstein . Just before Vichtenstein we took a clip with the Drone , showing the castle Vichtenstein and the Danube Valley from up. The castle Vichtenstein dates to 11th.century and is very well kept but unfortunately it’s now private property and therefore there’s no public access .
Vichtenstein is a nice mountain village, located on a steep slope of the “Haugstein” , with 890 m the highest elevation of the “Sauwald” The name refers to a high occurrence of wild boars in the forest (In German wild boar is translated to Wildschwein, but in Austrian and Bavarian slang, Schwein is called “ Sau , so Wild Boar is “Wildsau” and as the locals are lazy to speak , the region is simply called “Sauwald 😊)
