Elena Dementieva v. Jelena Jankovic 2008 Berlin QF highlights

This has to be one of the most shocking/surprising/puzzling losses from 2008 that didn't include Julie Coin. Jankovic, clay court goddess, loses to clay hack Dementieva - at the time I never thought in a million years that could happen.
In retrospect, I can see how Dementieva's matured, less risk taking game would benefit from this surface against a player like Jankovic - basically, she had more time to get to the ball and do something with her defense. That said, I think Jankovic played an incredible first two sets, both in terms of offense and defense. I think she had some kind of minor injury or was suffering from fatigue as she called the trainer in the second set, but still, Elena played a very good third set.
I think Elena's game in 2008 might have been her most successful, but it was certainly the least compelling to watch, at least for me. That said, this is the closest she came to replicating her earlier career peak form in 2008. Hope you enjoy!
