The list of OBCs maintained by the Indian Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is dynamic, with castes and communities being added or removed depending on social, educational and economic factors.

OBC is combined of BC, MBC, DNC (Denotified Communities and Minorities).

if you didnt apply and get OBC certificate, then you will consider us UR (FC/OC/General). You are not eligible for Reservation.

OBC Certificate is issued by the Tahsildar of the concerned State Government.

Validity for the certificate is 1 Year (April to Mar )

Benefits
---------

27% Reservation Quota with respect to the seats in Government Jobs (like IAS, IPS etc) and Government institutes (like the IIMs and IITs).
Relaxation with respect to the upper age limit for various examinations like UPSC Civil Services Exam.
Relaxation with respect to the number of attempts for exams.
Relaxation with respect to cut-off marks (only lower cut-off marks are usually needed to clear exams).


Note:
Only if you belong to Non-Creamy Layer OBC, you will get the reservation in jobs as well as in educational institutions.

If you fall under the Creamy Layer of OBC, you will not get the benefit of OBC reservation.

Creamy Layer :

Parents of an applicant entered the service as Class I or Class II officer before the age 40.
Parents who have income more than 8 Lacks per annum ( excluding Salary and Agriculture land ) for the financial year ( April to Mar)
Parents income only concider. the income of the candidate himself or of his/her spouse (husband or wife) shall not be taken into account.

Non Creamy Layer :

Parents are not directly recruited Class1 or Class2 officers OR they do not occupy any constitutional post.
Parents who have income Less than 8 Lacks per annum ( excluding Salary and Agriculture land ) for the financial year ( April to Mar)
Parents income only concider. the income of the candidate himself or of his/her spouse (husband or wife) shall not be taken into account.
