This is possible thanks to the three major components of a biogas plant: the reception area, the digester or fermentation tank, and the gas holder. The reception area welcomes the raw materials for the process, which can vary from crop residues, municipal and industrial sewage to food-processing and paper wastes. The magic happens in the digester, where these raw materials are transformed into energy. The gases produced are then collected in the gas holder. These plants are designed to mimic the natural process of anaerobic digestion, making the production of biogas simple and carbon neutral. In 2019, over 344,000 people were involved in the operation of around 132,000 biogas plants worldwide. Isn't that incredible?"
