It's time to remove the filter from social media | Ellie Pool | TEDxBollington

Digital platforms like Facebook and Instagram have made it easy to share every aspect of our lives online; but is it good for us? While most people would answer ‘no’, Ellie has a different viewpoint. She shares her experiences of seeking help for some major personal challenges and suggests some ways we might follow her example.

Ellie Pool works as a content and social strategist for a marketing agency and is a freelance blogger. She contributes to Huffington Post discussing topics close to her own heart and relevant to her life including coeliac disease, amongst other topics.

This talk was delivered at TEDxBollington on 16 June 2019 and was curated by Sara Knowles. The theme was ‘The Art of Connection’ and is inspired by Bollington’s community - it draws upon how we connect with others, the landscape, our past, present and future. Connections and contrasts inspire and define us as a community. Our speakers convey the art of connection through diverse forms such as communication, design, science, mindfulness, mental health and wellbeing through to the environment and technology.
Ellie’s passion is enabling others to discover that they are not alone when it comes to dealing with mental health and wider welfare and social issues. In her talk she will help us to discover how we can leverage social media to create invaluable support within local communities and more widely.
