NEWS:
Jai Hind friends, welcome to The Chronicle Post, friends, the Indian Navy is constantly working to enhance its capability, where on one hand work is being done on Project 75i and Kalvari class conventional submarines, on the other hand, the Indian Navy is working on some unconventional projects which will take the underwater capability of the Navy to a different level,
One such project is going to be worked on by the Indian Navy which has been named Project Jalkapi, Jalkapi will be a next generation AUV submarine i.e. autonomous underwater vehicle submarine, which is going to weigh around 20 tonnes and no crew will be required to operate the Jalkapi submarine,
According to media reports, while unveiling the Jalkapi project, the Indian Navy has made it clear that it will be a next generation autonomous underwater vehicle which will be able to provide extended underwater surveillance, through which the Indian Navy will be able to protect critical It will be able to further enhance data gathering capability and deep ocean surveys,
The endurance of Jalkapi submarine will be quite impressive, according to reports, it will be able to carry out the mission by staying underwater for about 45 days, and it will get this extended operational capability from the on-board charging facility present in it, for which diesel generator will be used to recharge the battery like a normal submarine,
and the mission can be continued without returning to any support vessel, whereas all the AUVs that are present at present, once their battery is discharged, they have to be brought to the parent vessel first and deployed after recharging, but this is not going to happen with Jalkapi submarine, that is, it works like a conventional diesel electric submarine in a way,
but Jalkapi is slightly smaller in size than a normal submarine, its design has been done by the Director of Naval Design i.e. DND of the Indian Navy and this project has been completed at a low cost and at a fast pace To do this, off the shelf equipment will be used, that is, the Jalkapi project will be taken forward using the technology that is already available with the Navy for its submarines and this will streamline the approach development. Jalapi will be equipped with a comprehensive sensor package which will include electro-optical infrared systems and cameras that will capture high resolution visual data and a multi-beam echo sounder that will help map the sea bed in detail. Conductivity, temperature and depth sensors will be present in it which will help in collecting ocean graph data. It will also have electronic support major payloads that will be able to detect electronic signals and passive bow or flange sonar will also be present in it which will help it in obstacle detection and underwater navigation. The detailed design, fabrication, integration and testing of Jalapi AUV will be done by an industry partner, especially an MSME company. This project will help in conducting underwater surveys and will collect information through it. Apart from data defence, it will also prove to be very effective for tasks like resource application and ocean graphic research. Earlier we did not have any such platform but now after including such a vessel in service, the underwater strength of the Indian Navy will improve manifold. So friends, what do you think about the Jalkapi project, please tell us in the comments.
