AIIB Approves $1.14 Billion for Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has greenlighted a $1.14 billion funding package for the construction of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB). This massive infrastructure project aims to connect Central Luzon and Calabarzon regions, significantly reducing travel time between Mariveles, Bataan and Naic, Cavite from five hours to just 1.5 hours.
The 32.15-kilometer bridge, once completed, will be one of the world's longest maritime bridges. The entire project is estimated to cost $4.9 billion, with the Philippine government contributing $664.23 million, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) financing $2.1 billion, and the AIIB co-financing $1.14 billion.

Construction is set to commence with the two on-land packages:

Package 1: 5-kilometer Bataan Land Approach
Package 2: 1.35-kilometer Cavite Land Approach

Subsequent phases will involve the construction of marine viaducts, north and south channel bridges, and other critical components.
