SOLUBILITY of Solid in Liquid 🔴 Solutions 3.1 🔴 Class 12 Chemistry

Описание к видео SOLUBILITY of Solid in Liquid 🔴 Solutions 3.1 🔴 Class 12 Chemistry

In this Chemistry video in Hindi for class 12 we explained what solubility of a solute in a solvent is and what are the factors effecting solubility of a solid solute in a liquid solvent.

This is a topic from the chapter - 'Solutions' for class 12th from NCERT.

Solubility is the ability of a substance, the solute, to form a solution with another substance, the solvent.

A saturated solution is a solution that has dissolved as much solute as it is capable of dissolving.

When solute molecules (or ions) leave its crystal and participate in solution by creating bond with solvent molecules, the process is called dissolution.

In contrast, when solute molecules (or ions) leave solution and joins its crystal, the process is called crystallisation.

In dynamic equilibrium, the rate of dissolution becomes equal to the rate of crystallisation. This is the condition for crystallisation.

It is observed that polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents and non polar solutes in nonpolar solvents. In general, a solute dissolves in a solvent if the intermolecular interactions are similar in the two or we may say like dissolves like.

Effect of temperature on solubility of solids in liquids :

In a nearly saturated solution, following Le Chatelier's Principle, if the dissolution process is endothermic (ΔH greater than 0), the solubility should increase with rise in temperature and if it is exothermic (ΔH less than 0) the solubility should decrease.

Effect of pressure on solubility of solids in liquids :

Pressure does not have any significant effect on solubility of solids in liquids. It is so because solids and liquids are highly incompressible and practically remain unaffected by changes in pressure.
